One year with Fulbright

A 10-part documentary series mapping the year of life of Fulbright scholarship holders.

The Fulbright scholarship, funded by the Czech and American governments, allows Czechs to study, conduct research, or teach in the United States, as well as allow Americans in our country.

“My own experience and the need to bring this exceptional scholarship program to the attention of the general public led me to the idea of ​​creating a project about the Fulbright program. As a Fulbrightist, I studied production years at a film school in Los Angeles, and this experience had a very positive effect on my professional career. In the USA, I have found that almost everyone knows about this program and considers it very prestigious. On the contrary, in the Czech Republic, with the word Fulbright, most people had no idea what I was talking about. It was a unique life experience for me.

Together with the directors and the screenwriter, we decided to present this program to the public in an attractive form in the personal stories of the individual people who received this scholarship. I believe that these stories will motivate other students, teachers or scientists to apply for such a scholarship. Yes, this scholarship is very prestigious and is one of the most important that can be obtained in the Czech Republic, but it is not an unattainable thing, as many might think. By getting a scholarship, the whole “adventure” is just beginning, and it’s up to each Fulbrightist to make the most of it. In the end, you will see for yourself in the individual parts. ”
